America America

It was a different time in America

The land of the free

and the home of the brave

Neighborhoods where child played

Ideals were hard work

and sweat equity

There were manufacturing plants

that made goods

which were second

to none

A penny that

made sense

Now you are lucky to find

someone who thinks

like you

And foreign is no more

another country

it’s the stuff that

grows in your

back yard

you can’t seem

to get rid of

The stars and stripes

back then stood

for America

And Kate Smith could sing

Now they stand

in the middle

in the field ,

forget the words

While pulling

up their pants

It’s a day to

remind us

what America

is made of

And to never forget

what people died

and fought
