Birds of Wings

I was inspired to write this poem by my friends at ajh57.wordpress.com and
ourrumblingocean.wordpress.com.They are both excellent photographer, and blog all
things related to nature and its creatures. I wanted to see if I could capture nature in words, I believe I……but you may good friends will have to tell…….
So with that I give you
BIRDS OF WINGS

This bird
in a cage
sang

It’s singing
took on a
Life of its
own

A pleasure
was given
by its
songs

When one day
as I was
listening
gazing out
at the morning
Sun

I heard a
difference
in the birds
song

As I never
heard
before

It was as
though the
bird was
singing of
the wings
of nature

How it wanted to be…….

I cracked open
the morning
window

Stepped to
the cage
propped
open the
door

All at once
the bird flew

Then l knew
the nature
of this bird

For a cage
is not a bird

It’s needs
are nature
in the raw

  1. Birds in cages are still valued by the elderly Chinese. Often I would walk through our old town and see cages hanging above a balcony. The songs could be quite tuneful but never as good as from a free-flyer. Well written, Sheldon.
